Treats from the Terroir

The Treats from the Terroir project was designed for elementary and high school students across Quebec.  Through in person workshops and videoconferencing students worked with guidance from professional Anglophone Quebec food writers and photographers and met local food producers.

As the students were introduced to food writing and photography, they got to see and taste locally produced food from the terroir.  They developed an appreciation of what goes into the production of quality food products by visiting and talking with local producers and merchants.

They then transcribed their interviews and wrote about the food.  They also photographed the products, the dishes and the producers as they put together a book on locally produced food.

This project was produced in collaboration with:  Les Éditions Metropolis Bleu, Canada Council for the Arts, LEARN Quebec, Canada Heritage, Quebec 4-H Association and Community Learning Centers.
